PBV is an abbreviation of Purpose Built Vehicle and be called ‘multipurpose mobility designed fort he purpose of use.’ Hyundai Motor Company presented PBV as a vision for future mobility at CES 2020. This is because future mobility should have different uses.
Vehicles developed for mobility are designed around the driver who is the subject of movement. However, in a future where autonomous driving technology is ubiquitous, ther will be no need for a driver. That means you don’t have to stick with traditional design methods.
Experts analyze that for what purpose will be important than who drives in the era of autonomous driving. PBV emerged from the question, ‘What can a person who puts the steering wheel do in the car?’
The core of PBV is ‘scalability’. It should be able to flexibly change the shape according to the purpose of use. The platform of choice by the industry is the ‘skateboard platform’.
