Mando, one of the world's largest automotive spare parts manufacturers, won the innovation award in the "Vehicle Intelligence and Transportation" category at CES 2021, one of the most important events in the field of technology.
This award has marked the recognition of the important role played by Mando, which provides consumers with a safer and freer driving experience with SbW (Steer-by-Wire) technology, in designing vehicles of the future.
As a pure electronic product, SbW replaces the mechanical movement in vehicles. Replacement of mechanical power by electric power brings great creative freedom to vehicle design. This way, it possible to go beyond conventional vehicle design lines and to design vehicles with different functions. Thanks to SbW technology, applications such as changing the position of the steering wheel, putting the steering wheel out of sight when not in use during the drive, and rotating the driver's seat 180 degrees which are hard to even imagine in the conventional automotive world are now possible. With Mando's SbW technology, the driver becomes a passenger. This technology offers a more comfortable, safer, and freer riding experience to passengers.
The core of Mando's SbW technology is designed as the Dual Redundant Safety System. Multi-redundant systems are considered indispensable elements for driving systems defined as the driving standards of the future such as autonomous driving and remote control. The dual redundant safety system allows the entire system to continue its normal operation, in case of failure of a component. Fails in the systems are recorded to be used in studies for improvement.
