Intersections are among the most sensitive spots in both inner-city and intercity traffic. Drivers and pedestrians need to be particularly careful at intersections. Thanks to technology, this problem can be overcome.
With the autonomous driving technologies, which we, Mando, have developed, we aim to ensure not only a more comfortable driving experience but also a safer journey for the driver and passengers. The focus of our efforts with this vision is the AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) system.
The Autonomous Emergency Braking System consists of cameras and sensors placed on the front side of the vehicle. When the driver fails to respond to any obstacle ahead of the vehicle, these cameras and sensors are activated and stop the vehicle. Euro NCAP has been assessing the AEB system among vehicle safety criteria since 2014.
The majority of accidents at intersections occur while pulling out. Because the driver needs to pay attention to multiple directions during these maneuvers, accidents may occur.
Developed by Mando, AEB Junction constantly checks what is around with its front camera, front, and corner radars and calculates collision probabilities. Collision probability is determined by measuring the vehicle's speed, the speed of the other vehicle, and the distance between them. The AEB system also prevents accidents that may occur as a result of the unexpected actions of pedestrians at intersections whom the driver did not notice.
Researches indicate that accidents at intersections may be reduced by 30% on average, thanks to AEB technologies. And this means saving thousands of people's lives.
